Counselor - Heartland Boys Academy
Job Description/Summary: Heartland Boys Academy, a Christian boarding school for at-risk teen boys ages 12-17, is looking for a Licensed or Masters Level Counselor who is a mature Christian and has a passion for working with struggling teens and the teen's families. The Counselor will assist students in gaining insight into the problems, defining goals, and planning action. The position requires weekly staff meetings along with individual counseling, group counseling, and case management services for the students. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to blend one's clinical training with biblical knowledge to help teens overcome trauma.
Counselor Requirements:
Licensed or Master's degree (preferred) in Counseling or a relevant field such as psychology, social work, pastoral counseling, etc.
Must understand the practical application of Biblical principles
Previous experience working with youth and families is preferred
A background check and pastoral or ministerial leader reference is required.
Necessary skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and high standards of professionalism and confidentiality
Strong time management, critical thinking, and documentation skills
Ability to create a comfortable, safe environment for students and parents
Understanding of the issues facing teens and applicable intervention strategies
