Director of Contemporary Music - Pleasant Valley Church of the BrethernPleasant Valley Church of the Brethren is located in Weyers Cave, VA. and is a church with approximately 100 in attendance each week. The church loves music and includes both traditional and contemporary music in the services. Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethern is seeking a committed, Christian musician who is knowledgeable about and experienced with contemporary Christian worship music appropriate for congregational settings and who has experience leading this type of music for a congregation. The individual in this position is expected to work between 8 and 12 hours per week with a salary range between $10,000-$11,000. Preference will be given to applicants who are also competent in playing at least one instrument while singing and leading contemporary worship music for a congregation.
Position Description:
- Recruit and retain members, both vocal and instrumental, to the Praise Team, currently comprised of around 10 members who sing and/or play piano, drums, or guitar.
- Organize and lead at least one rehearsal for the Praise Team on a weekly basis
- Working under the direction of the pastor, select music for each Sunday’s worship service, currently beginning at 10:15am
- Lead congregational singing of contemporary music each Sunday
- After consulting with and getting approval from the Worship team, arrange for necessary maintenance of all contemporary instruments owned by the church
- Coordinate with the media director to ensure accurate text placements and appropriate copyright notations for all contemporary songs used each Sunday
- Consult with the Worship Team for budget requests and prior to making expenditures
- Meet with the pastor and Worship team on a regular basis for planning, feedback, and to coordinate any other designated responsibilities, including special music for a particular service.
