Job Purpose:
The Director of Spiritual & Student Life (DSSL) at Colorado Christian Academy is one of the key pillars of the school’s three-director model. This individual plays a vital, collaborative role in supporting the structural function of the school by being responsible for spiritual leadership, discipleship, accountability, and discipline. Working closely with administrators and teachers, the DSSL helps align school activities and events to reflect Christ and reveal God. Believing that the candidate was called and equipped for ministry, the DSSL seeks to be an agent of inspiration and transformation to students and staff – building strong foundations and shaping the trajectory of their lives through Christ. In alignment with CCA’s commitment to partnering with families, the DSSL cultivates strong, supportive relationships with parents. This individual also contributes to broader school advancement through strategic oversight of spiritual growth, student development, and support for donor engagement and fundraising efforts. Additional duties as assigned. The following categories summarize key responsibilities of the DSSL. General Duties, Leadership, and Strategy:
1. Develop and maintain strong relationships with all school stakeholders (students, faculty/staff, parents, and board members) by ensuring open lines of communication at all times and addressing issues and concerns in a timely and constructive manner.
2. Facilitate alongside the CCA Board of Directors with the strategic direction of CCA.
· Attend and participate in monthly Board Meetings (generally the 3rd Monday of every month, 6:30 PM).
3. Embody the mission, vision, and philosophy of Colorado Christian Academy.
4. Participate in regularly scheduled faculty/staff meetings.
· Lead devotions for faculty/staff week while fostering spiritual growth and development.
5. Develop and oversee all Bible curriculum for Bible immersion for the school. Plan and lead the spiritual development, ensuring each teacher is trained and coached in the curriculum.
6. Find, develop, and implement mission-aligned outreach programs for CCA students to participate.
7. Discipline through discipleship to guide student behavior and build student character to become more Christ-like in all actions.
8. Prompt and effective communication with parents, students, and staff.
9. Participate in projects in accordance with the school development/strategic plan.
10. Execute & administer policies as set forth by the CCA Board of Directors.
11. Exhibit professionalism and hospitality in all interactions.
12. Hold confidentiality regarding sensitive information related to students, parents, school data, and Board actions.
13. Engage in yearly growth and renewal plans.
· Twice yearly evaluations provided by the CCA Board of Directors on agreed upon criteria.
14. Develop and maintain curricula that provide distinct Christian education in conjunction with the Director of Academics.
15. Responsible for stewarding Advancement and Parents in Partnership/Sunshine Committees in the context of strategically guiding members when there is a need to engage and support students and the CCA community. Responsible for leading the spiritual aspect of all Advancement and Parents and Partnership events.
16. Responsible for developing and guiding the 8th Grade Apologetics curriculum.
17. Responsible for developing and guiding the Portrait of a Graduate culminating project.
18. Ensure that Flexible Friday programming permits students to experience the awe of God’s creation in order to challenge and reinforce students’ Christ-like character development.
19. Shaping the culture and participating in the advancement of the school by effectively communicating the school’s mission to the school community and the community at large.

2. Responsible for developing the school discipline program and ensuring faculty and staff are trained and guided in its implementation. Communication of discipline standards to students, parents, and faculty and staff. Implementation of standardized corrective measures for students.
3. Develop Student performance plans as it relates to behavioral modifications.
4. Exhibit a heart that is for the success of every person connected to the school, and its broader community.
5. In all interactions, speak honorably to address conflict in a Biblically restorative manner.
Education, Experience, and Preferred Competencies:
1. Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s, preferred (or working toward).

Relationships:

Additional Responsibilities & Duties:
1. Communicate CCA’s religious beliefs to current and prospective students and families, and others who inquire.
2. Guide Portrait of a Graduate and the potential need for changes with the Board of Directors.
3. Develop a Biblical plan for CCA to ensure the school does not experience mission creep and assist the Board of Directors with a review of specific guidelines and policies.
4. Develop policies and procedures to ensure the culture of the school remains strong and consistent.
