Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for children
- Create a safe and nurturing learning environment
- Supervise children during activities and ensure their safety
- Conduct systematic observations and evaluations of each child's progress
- Cultivate positive relationships with children and parents
- Maintain program site and equipment
- Attend and participate in program activities, in-service training, and staff meetings
- Adhere to state guidelines and childcare regulations
Qualifications:
- Minimum education of high school diploma or equivalent
- CDA, Associates, or Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
- Experience working in a licensed childcare center (1 year of early childhood experience is required)
- Must undergo background check and five panel drug screen
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire
- Knowledge of child development principles and educational practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Dependability, adaptability, and teamwork skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to plan, lead, and participate in activities
- Ability to handle stressful situations professionally while multitasking
- Maintain visual observation of children even in distracting environments
- Stand for extended periods during program activities
- Bend at the knees and waist as necessary
- Lift and carry equipment weighing up to 40 lbs. as required for program activities.
- Demonstrate and lead various activities effectively
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
- Reason, problem-solve, and make sound judgments and decisions even in noisy and active settings
- Promote and adhere to safety and security procedures
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. for child safety and potential emergency situations
- Physically and mentally capable of responding to emergencies and administering CPR and First Aid effectively
