Summary
The Finance Manager performs and manages all financial activities for the organization with the highest degree of accuracy. The Finance Manager directs the operations of the Accounting Department; prepares financial reports, including annual plan and operating budgets; ensuring complete, accurate, and timely completion of financial and accounting records for CCHC and prepare analysis of operations for Controller. The Finance Manager will analyze, interpret, and communicate financial operating results to provide information and guidance to management and departments. Maintain all official accounting records in conformance with generally accepted government accounting principles. Supervise the operation of the department according to existing workflows for A/P, Cash Receipts and Payroll. Work in tandem with Grant Manager to support existing workflows for all Grants to ensure accurate spending plans and timely submission of draws.

Follow established policies and procedures according to Finance Department Policies and Procedures Manual. Reporting to the Controller, this person will take complete responsibility for the financial functions including A/R, fixed assets, general ledger, financial reporting, and the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. This person must also ensure all necessary systems are in place for proper internal controls and accounting record in accordance with GAAP.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Daily supervision and development of the Accounting staff.
- Manage staff in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable regulations. Complete management duties including planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and guiding professional development; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing employee relations issues and resolving problems.
- Maintaining journals, ledgers and other accounting records and source documents.
- Review and monitor internal controls over cash receipts, purchasing, cash disbursements, fixed assets, and payroll.
- Review and approve all bank reconciliations.
- Look for opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Monthly reconciliation of fixed asset and depreciation.
- Post Revenue and Payment data for monthly close.
- Approve Accountant Journal entries to MIP System
- Ensure appropriate accruals are processed
- Drive the Month-end closing process according to checklist.
- Utilize Quality Assurance measures for compliance and risks mitigation.
- Assist in all Audit Preparations for Federal, State, and Local agencies.
- Monthly monitor actual vs budgeted expenditures and address any variance from spending plan.
- Assist the Controller in developing the annual budget and monthly unaudited statements.
- Provide financial analysis and projections of operating results and trends
Minimal Qualifications
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finances from an accredited College and a minimum of five years of accounting and finance experience. Must be experienced in fund accounting, in a complex nonprofit with multiple service programs.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- Must be experienced in a nonprofit environment, and knowledge to assist program and other leadership in interpreting financial results of the agency is highly preferred.
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements is required. Knowledgeable of computers, with the ability to understand accounting systems, PC spreadsheets, and other financial data systems is required.
- The ability to direct the creation of clear and concise financial reports to aid in the functioning of the Agency, relying on a strong analytical background, is required. Excellent oral and written communication and well-developed presentation skills are required.
- Experience in a nonprofit environment, and knowledge to assist program and other leadership in interpreting financial results of the Agency is highly preferred. Knowledge of and experience with MIP accounting software is highly preferred.
