Job Overview
The Director of Military Affairs advocates, conducts outreach and supervises events that build and strengthen Christian County ties to our military families. The director organizes and coordinates Military Affairs Committee (MAC) activities and functions, maintains and strengthens relationships with Fort Campbell, the military community and military advocacy groups. The director helps market our community to active-duty military members, retirees and families through liaison with other Christian County organizations. The director is responsible for its budget along with sponsor support, fundraising and other forms of financial assistance to ensure the viability of the program. The director engages with the Kentucky Legislature on state level – legislative issues that involve military subjects and supports federal legislative issues that impact Fort Campbell, military families and retirees through liaison with organizations with a federal mandate. In addition, the director will serve as the staff liaison with the Military Affairs Committee of the Christian County Chamber of Commerce.

Qualifications and skills
- Bachelor’s degree or like work experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite.
- Pleasant personality works well with others, values other’s contributions.
- Multi-tasking and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with budgeting and fundraising to ensure viability of the program
- Have a valid driver’s license and provide own transportation.
- Pass any required drug test.
- Have fun while providing bold leadership to make our community an even better place to live, work, learn, play and visit for our military friends.
Helpful qualifications and skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing, public relations.
- Previous experience working with the military community.
- Lives in local community.
- Previous experience working with budgets and sponsorships.
Reports to: President/CEO, Christian County Chamber of Commerce. Advised by the Military Affairs Advisory Board.
Compensation / Benefits
Salary range for this position is $58,000 to $68,000 dependent on experience and qualifications. Additional benefits include health, dental, and eye insurance, mileage reimbursement, simple matching IRA participation and flexible hours.
