Christian County is seeking a highly qualified and dedicated County Administrator/In-House Counsel to serve as the in-house counsel for the Christian County Commission and help oversee the management and operations of the office. This position will ensure that county services are delivered in an efficient, effective, and equitable manner, working closely with elected officials, department heads, and community leaders.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages the day-to-day operations of Chrisian County through the Commissions Office
- Serves as the chief advisor to the County Commission
- Coordinates and communicates with community stakeholders and elected officials
- Represents the county in public and community events and meetings as needed
- Serves as the in-house council for the County Commission and will provide legal advice and guidance to the executive team and other county offices on a wide range of matters.
- Conduct and coordinate research into a variety of legal issues.
- Offers comprehensive legal advice to ensure the County’s operations align with current law and regulations.
- Manages legal affairs and overseeing outside counsel along with managing the cost of their work.
- Manage risk and limit legal exposure.
- Represent the County in legal proceedings as needed.
- Reviews all contracts and agreements on behalf of the Commission
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Education: JD degree from an accredited law school and an active member of the Missouri Bar Association.
- Experience: At least 2 years of legal experience and a minimum of 5 years in a management position within a government or nonprofit organization.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong communication skills and leadership qualities.
- Ability to navigate complex political environments.
- In-depth knowledge of public administration and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
