What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Director position at Christian Fellowship of Columbia?
We are currently looking to hire a Summer Camp Director for 2025 for Christian Fellowship School.
The Summer Camp Director will oversee the organization and execution of a dynamic summer day camp program. This individual will ensure a safe, fun, and enriching environment for campers while managing camp staff, coordinating activities, and communicating with parents. The Director will play a vital role in creating a memorable summer experience for children by leading with enthusiasm, creativity and leadership.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
· Follower of Jesus Christ
· Prior experience in camp leadership or similar youth programs is optimal
· Strong organizational and leadership skills
· Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, indoor and outdoor environment
· CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
· High school diploma or GED required
· Able to establish priorities and manage time
· Can work independently within a team environment
· Flexibility to adapt to changing environment and staff assignments
Work Schedule: Camp will run three weeks in June and three weeks in July. Start date for planning and registration purposes is January 1, 2025. Can work up to 25 hours per month while planning. Will work 40 hours/week while camp is in session.
Key Responsibilities:
· Program Leadership: Help plan and implement age-appropriate activities, including sports, arts, games, and educational programs.
· Camp Operations: Oversee the daily operations of the camp, including scheduling activities, check-in/out, assigning campers to counselors, and coordination of supplies.
· Staff Management: Supervise and provide guidance to camp counselors and other staff, ensuring all roles are executed effectively. Participate in the hiring process for Camp Counselors.
· Safety and Compliance: Ensure the safety of all campers by adhering to camp policies, managing risk, and training staff on emergency procedures.
· Budgeting: Manage the camp’s operating budget.
· Parent Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, addressing questions and concerns, and providing updates on camp activities.
· Behavior Management: Implement and uphold positive behavior management strategies to ensure an inclusive and respectful camp environment.
