We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Insurance Verification Specialist to join our Health Information Management department. The Insurance Verification Specialist will perform insurance verification, reviews accounts, submits claims and complete a variety of related clerical duties. Demonstrates an understanding of, and embraces, the mission statement of Christian Health.
Competencies:
- Reviews accounts for accurate insurance information.
- Reviews and performs daily/weekly/monthly verification checks.
- Contacts insurance companies via phone or by using insurance portals. Communicates insurance changes.
- Communicates with front office regarding insurance charges/updates from patient.
- Verifies insurance, confirming that a patient's insurance is active and will cover services provided. Includes verifying insurance for new patients, referrals, and updating insurance information for existing patients. Identifies co-insurance, deductible and copay.
- Retrieves insurance card from various portals.
- Updates patient records with verification details.
- Communicates with LiveWell verification team and with front office; answers questions related to billing and insurance.
- Makes collection calls.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of (3) years insurance verification experience preferably in a psychiatric/mental health setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel) preferred.
Schedule: Full-time, 8am-4pm, Monday – Friday.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
