JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The primary objectives of the Extended Care Coordinator position are to oversee the extended care program which included before school care, after school care, Wednesday afternoon care, and special events care. This position must agree with and support the Staff Member’s Covenant and agree with/help fulfill CHA’s Mission Statement.

 

Essential Functions (Responsibilities and Tasks)

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

  • Train and supervise Extended Care staff.
  • Schedule workers and secure substitutes when needed.
  • Work with the Elementary Headmaster to determine Extended Care space needs.
  • Set up classes, tuition schedule, student clock, and child care programs in FACTS.
  • Extended Care communications (brochures, website, welcome letter, various forms, attendance sheets, etc.)
  • Purchase supplies, snacks, materials for activities, crafts, etc.
  • Plan, publish, and organize childcare during special events.
  • Supervise students during Extended Care hours from 7-8:00 a.m. M-F; 3:00-5:30 p.m. M, T, TH, F and from 12:00-5:30p.m. on Wednesdays along with other needed workers according to the number of children in attendance.
  • Attend staff meetings, committee meetings and all other meetings that are required.

Supervisor Responsibility 

This position will oversee extended care staff.

 

Work Environment 

This job operates in a professional school environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopies, filing cabinets and fax machines. The environment also uses step stools for climbing while pulling or reshelving books.

 

Performance Standards 

Completing tasks well and in a timely manner (before or at due date), while representing Christian Heritage Academy in a way that is glorifying Christ.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work 

This is a part-time, 10 month position, payable on a 12-month pay schedule. Days and hours are from 7-8:00 a.m. M-F; 3:00-5:30 p.m. M, T, TH, F and from 12:00-5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays along with other needed workers according to the number of children in attendance with days off according to leave and school calendar from August – May. Extra days may be required during summer on an hourly basis and approved by the Elementary Headmaster.

 

Travel

Local travel for supplies is expected for this position.

 

Physical Demands 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The school is currently a multi-level facility, which requires this position to navigate flights of stairs regularly to meet responsibilities as it relates to the school.

He/she must be able to speak clearly and orally in person or over the phone to parents, students and/or other employees.

He/she must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time, have dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment, and lift at least 25 pounds.

He/she must be able to bend, kneel, stoop, crouch or climb all day.

On occasion, he/she must be able to work longer hours than a typical day for events such as back to school dinner, parent-teacher conferences, and meetings/functions in the evening.

 

Required Education 

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.

 

Preferred Education and Experience 

Experience working with children.
