JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The Educational Therapist position is a highly trained professional responsible for providing individualized educational therapy one-on-one with students who have an identified learning deficit. Additionally, the education therapist may provide small group therapy related to reading and math deficiencies as directed by the Genesis Learning Center Director. The educational therapist also provides training for teachers regarding strategies and interventions designed for use in the classroom. This position must agree with and support the Faculty Covenant and agree with/help fulfill CHA's Mission Statement.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities and Tasks)

- Administer educational therapy to each assigned therapy student.
- Train therapy students in Christian character and scholarship.
- Attend Professional Development throughout the year including Wednesday afternoons explaining the school’s philosophy, curriculum and methodology.
- Seek to follow and implement the school’s philosophy and methodology (Principle Approach) as it is outlined in various publications.
- Complete any Principle Approach Assignments in a given year.
- Provide weekly educational therapy for each therapy student or additional educational intervention services as determined by the Genesis Learning Center Director.
- Train parents in methods of supervising in Discovery homework and rhythmic writing.
- Assign appropriate and individualized homework for each therapy student.
- Determine suitable materials for each student’s academic needs.
- Maintain proper discipline in therapy sessions.
- Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions.
- Administer annual testing and communicate results to the therapy student’s academic team: parents, classroom teachers and administrators.
- Observe therapy students in the classroom environment.
- Assess progress and confer regularly with each therapy student’s academic team: parents, teachers and administrators.
- Be a positive role-model in speech, actions and attitudes of Christian character and scholarship.
- Follow the CHA’s Conflict Resolution Policy in dealing with staff, administration, students, and parents in regard to disagreements or misunderstandings.
- Recognize and honor the role of parents as being primarily responsible for their children’s education and seek in to assist them in this process.
- Observe and implement the school’s philosophy and methodology (Principle Approach).
- Maintain punctuality and professionalism in all dealings with students, parents and colleagues.
- Take all precautions necessary to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Become familiar with all policies and procedures in the Faculty Handbook and Parent-Teacher Handbook.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by CHA policy and administrative regulations.
- Attend staff meetings, committee meetings and all other meetings that are required by the administration.
- Perform extra duties as assigned, such as gate duty, lunch duty, before school duty, etc.
- Demonstrate flexibility in being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside of the instructional day when necessary or requested under reasonable terms.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional school environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, 10-month salary position, payable on a 12-month pay schedule. Days and hours are M-F from 7:35 a.m. to 3:50 p.m.
Performance Standards
This position will be evaluated by standards set by the Headmaster, appropriate area level Headmaster and the curriculum supervisor. A regular visitation and reporting procedure has been established.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The school is currently a multi-level facility, which requires this position to navigate flights of stairs regularly to meet responsibilities as it relates to the school.
Talking - must be able to express ideas and speak clearly and orally in person or over the phone to parents, students and/or other employees.
Hearing – ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and to receive detailed information through oral communication.
Close visual acuity required for viewing a computer monitor, preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing and reading.
Standing, walking and sitting for extended periods of time, moving about on foot for lecturing and monitoring students in the classroom, as well as throughout the building.
Regularly sitting at the computer requiring dexterity of hands and fingers.
Occasional lifting of at least 25 pounds.
Environment is primarily indoors in a classroom environment.
Required Education
Bachelor's degree in Education and/or equivalent required subject hours
Must obtain/maintain licensure provided by the National Institute of Learning Development
Must obtain/maintain ACSI Certification
Preferred Education
