Christian Montessori School of Ann Arbor is currently seeking a full-time Infant Montessori Trained Lead Teacher to join our team of dedicated educators who share a love and respect for children. We empower our Lead Guides to be self-starters, with all the resources they need to curate beautiful, authentic Montessori classrooms.

The Lead Teacher must be able to agree with and uphold the Apostle’s Creed and CMSAA’s mission, as well as meet the qualifications and skills for this position.

Reports to: Head of School/Program Director in fulfilling all duties and responsibilities

Employee Classification: Full-time/Year Round Position

Daily Schedule: Full-time: Monday - Friday 7:45am - 3:45pm

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a Child related field or equivalent experience working with children
  • American Montessori Society (AMS), Association Montessori International (AMI), or Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) certified
  • Successfully pass the required pre-employment background check, physical, TB test, CPR/First Aid/BBP Training
  • Experience leading in a Montessori/Toddler classroom preferred or at least 3 years teaching experience
  • Knowledge of MiLeap regulations
  • Be comfortable talking with children about the Christian faith and principles
Responsibilities:

  • Take leadership of a classroom with up to 9 children and 2-3 assistant teachers.
  • Be in attendance at all staff meetings and after-hour parent meetings, admissions events, professional development days and classroom socials.
  • Prepare and participate in two parent conferences per school year (Fall & End of Year).
  • Communication: Routinely provide verbal and written updates to parents on their child’s development.
  • Maintain current ongoing records (communication logs, conference summary forms, observation notes) on all students in your care using Transparent Classroom and LineLeader.
  • Supervise, direct, train and mentor 2-3 teaching assistants in the classroom.
  • Plan and implement a classroom schedule identifying a fair and equitable distribution of job responsibilities for all adults to follow.
  • Implement a daily curriculum that honors the Montessori philosophy and the individuality of each child in the classroom.
  • Prepare appropriate lessons for each child based on observations.
  • Work in alignment with the Lead Teacher team and Administration developing and implementing the school’s strategic vision.
  • Maintain a beautifully prepared, organized, clean, safe and stimulating environment for the children.
  • Develop a weekly newsletter for parents detailing the week’s activities through photographs and include items that inform parents about the Montessori Method and parenting young children.
  • Build respectful, collaborative relationships with parents and colleagues.
  • Rotate materials regularly based on observation of needs and interests of students/community
  • Follow all school policies and procedures as stated in the Employee Handbook and the School’s Rules and Regulations, as presently existing or as may hereafter be amended.
  • Follow all policies from the American Montessori Society, MiLeap, and Washtenaw County Department of Public Health.

Salary : $30,000 - $35,000
