Description of Typical Work Schedule : 40 hour workweek; schedule to be discussed with direct supervisor and may change as needs of the department change (Hours set based on necessity of department or office.)

PURPOSE : The Foster Home Recruitment and Development Liaison serves as a resource to expedite the process of recruitment, licensing, and placement of youth with foster parents and fictive kins placements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Keeps the agency foster parent database (ACES) current and updated with consistent information at all times to track progress of placement opportunities.
  • Provides follow-up services to foster parent inquiries, disseminating information packets, gathering required documents, and assisting foster parents and family members / fictive kin with required steps of the licensing process.
  • Maintains up to date files in order to assure timely inquiry response, recruitment, and licensure.
  • Maintains checklists of what is needed, due, expired or missing to assist in development of new and currently licensed homes.
  • Proofs paperwork before submitting to DCFS Central Office of Licensing for processing.
  • Contacts and engages new family member or fictive kin providers to get preliminary information for background checks, physicals, etc. before the licensing specialist makes his / her first visit to the home.
  • Touches base with relative providers weekly to provide support assistance in completing paperwork or getting to appointments to complete the process and prepare for placement.
  • Welcomes new foster parents by preparing and distributing new foster parent welcome packets.
  • Assists agency Family Finding and Recruitment Specialist with scheduling and setting-up of recruitment efforts and events.
  • Assists Resource and Support Coordinators with scheduling and implementing foster parent support groups, refreshments, babysitting, sign-in and training materials.

    EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED / PREFERRED

    Degree / Field Required : High School Diploma or GED (Related fields will be considered.)

    Degree / Field Preferred : Associate Degree in human services or business administration (Related fields will be considered.)

Communications and Media — Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Mathematics — Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications. Psychology — Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.

    Experience Required : No experience required (For positions that manage staff, the years specified need to be progressive years of management experience. For all positions, the years required can be interchanged with equivalent experience from an advanced degree related to this job and / or with other relevant experience verified by applicant / incumbent).
