What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wellness Director position at Christian Village Communities?
Job Summary: The Wellness Coordinator is responsible for implementation of the wellness classes, energizing activities, and programming for Mt. Healthy Christian Village. They are expected to lead classes and specialized activities for the elderly, develop programming, conduct fitness testing, and maintain accurate recordkeeping for all wellness services provided.
Responsibilities/Requirements:
- Work very closely with the Therapy Director and Activities Director
- Reports and works in conjunction with Executive Director; and communicates with on a regular basis.
- Maintaining an open line of communication and positive relationship with your facility staff and residents, to ensure your satisfaction with your wellness program and prepared activities.
- Attending all meetings and events could possibly include evenings.
- Ensuring all fitness assessments and evaluations are performed promptly.
- Assuring that your wellness program and activities meet all resident’s needs.
- Plan, organize, and lead wellness activities along with activities on and off campus.
- Coordinate exercise programs.
- Gather information on resident lifestyles and goals.
- Lead wellness programs and energizing activities for all levels of care.
- Refer patients to therapy as needed.
- Develop relationships with patients newly released from therapy.
- Ability to work under limited supervision and able to lead, guide, and/or coordinate others; and direct the use of budgeted funds within a work unit.
- Utilization of resources from other sources is often required to perform the job’s functions.
- Preparing and maintaining accurate records; operating standard office equipment including using specific software applications, Internet, and email
- Perform basic math, including calculations; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems.
- Obtain knowledge-based competencies required to perform the functions of the job including health standards and hazards, safety practices and procedures.
- Participates in workshops/meetings for the purpose of conveying and gathering information required to help improve the wellness program.
- Track and trend all wellness data, including but not limited to, fitness scores, attendance, and continuum of care.
Education and Licensure:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree from accredited institution preferred, or 2 years experience coordinating Wellness Programs.
Clinical Experience:
- Previous Wellness experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Two years of experience planning, teaching, and motivating individuals
- Two years of experience in working with the elderly population
- Conducting individual and group sessions on topics related to all dimensions of wellness and exercise.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
- Must possess characteristics such as good written and verbal communication, innovative, a self-starter, and team player.
Continuing Education:
- Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education activities to stay updated with advancements in the field.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, sit, and move around for extended periods to evaluate and treat patients.
- Physical strength and dexterity to facilitate therapeutic activities, assist with transfers, and use equipment.
- Capacity to lift and position patients as needed during therapy sessions.
