The Union Hospital Radiology Department is currently recruiting for a Full-time Imaging Tech Assistant to work the night shift.
Primary function:
- To perform duties alongside of the technologists and radiology nurses. Provide patient care and assist technical staff with imaging procedures.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
- Assist with escorting of patients to and from imaging departments.
- Prepare imaging rooms for procedures, ability to turn around rooms for high volume needs.
- Answer and respond to route calls in a busy environment.
- Ability to maintain a clean work environment.
- Ordering of supplies for imaging department.
- Ability to use imaging supported software, including but not limited to Power Chart, Sorian, PACS, and other Cerner products.
- Requests and obtains medical records in preparation for patient’s exams.
- Push previous CCHS studies to PACS for radiologist review.
- Responds to requests for urgent or emergency cases while working with the technologists.
- Operates computer systems and office equipment in a safe manner.
- Interacts for solution of “routine problems” as they may occur to achieve customer satisfaction.
- Interacts with patient, family members, physicians, and staff in a courteous and professional manner.
- Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices.
- Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
- Performs other related duties as required.
SCOPE, PURPOSE, AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS:
- Daily contact with patients, family members, visitors, employees, medical staff, volunteers, and students.
Education and experience requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Two years related to medical environment experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Knowledge, skill, and ability requirements:
- Knowledge of hospital and/or office radiology, clerical procedures/functions including related equipment use and operation.
- Knowledge of computer support software.
- Knowledge of clerical duties and techniques.
- Knowledge of office equipment and machines.
- Knowledge of criteria for safe scheduling parameters (MRI Hazards).
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
- Ability to plan, organize, and handle various tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to function independently, set work schedule and short-term goals to maximize productivity.
- Ability to establish and maintain superior quality customer relations with patients, patients’ families, Christiana Care staff, visitors, insurance companies, physicians, and the general public.
Special Requirements:
- American Heart Association/American Red Cross BLS Certification
Physical demands:
Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, twist, handle, stoop, climb, as per unit-based Physical Demands Checklist.
Working Hours:
Night Shift 1900-0700 (every other weekend)
Location: Elkton, Maryland
Working conditions:
Frequent exposure to biological elements with occasional exposure to chemical and environmental elements, as per unit-based Physical Demands Checklist.
