We are seeking an experienced Medical Imaging Support Expert to join our Outpatient Neurology team in Middletown.
About the Role:
This role involves supporting neurodiagnostic procedures, working closely with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate results and high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and attention to detail.
Main Responsibilities:
- Gather relevant patient information from charts, families, or patients themselves.
- Develop effective relationships with patients, providing clear instructions to facilitate smooth procedures.
- Apply electrodes to patients' heads using the International 10/20 System.
- Regularly maintain and calibrate EEG machines to ensure optimal performance.
- Keep all equipment clean and well-maintained.
- Record and store EEG and Evoked Potential studies according to established protocols.
- Identify and resolve any technical issues that may arise.
- Maintain continuous observation of patients during procedures, documenting important findings.
- Select and apply suitable EEG activation techniques.
- Monitor other essential physiological parameters.
- Upon completion of the procedure, carefully remove electrodes, clean the patient's hair and scalp, and prepare EEGs for uploading and archiving.
Key Qualifications:
- A degree from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Neurodiagnostic Program.
- At least six months experience in a patient-centric environment.
- Eligibility for ABRET certification, which must be achieved within one year.
- BLS Certification.
