Description

Christianity Today (CT) is a global media ministry committed to excellence in its journalism, storytelling, and resourcing leaders. We are seeking a full-time Copy Editor to ensure accuracy and precision, primarily on our digital platforms. 

Job Functions and Responsibilities

• Most of the Copy Editor’s time is spent editing content and working with editors to ensure articles meet CT’s high standards for spelling, grammar, style, logic, and factual assertions.
• Work closely with the Senior Copy Editor to ensure a seamless workflow and to maintain consistent deadlines and efficient processes. 
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience in journalism. 
• Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style. Familiarity with Wordpress, Adobe InCopy, and Microsoft Word’s change-tracking tools is preferred.
• Knowledge of fact-checking processes. 
• Meticulous, organized, and detail oriented. 
• Flexible enough to shift gears quickly and copy edit a breaking news story, yet able to concentrate on and fact-check a longform story, should the need arise. 
• Collegial and professional. Because this job entails enforcing rules and identifying their colleagues’ mistakes, this person must possess both fortitude and a humble spirit, both conviction and tact.
• Familiarity with Christian culture, the Bible, news values, and journalism ethics. 
• Shared core theological commitments with CT.
• Passionate about CT’s belief that the gospel of Jesus Christ is a transforming and vital force, and that God’s primary way of working in the world is through the church and through the Word.

Employment Details

• CT's headquarters are located in Illinois. 
• This is a fully remote position.
• This full time position has a workweek of 37.50 hours per week.
• This is an hourly position with an Non-Exempt FLSA status. 

Exact compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and location.

Salary : $40,000 - $43,000
