What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Pharmacy Technician - Chemotherapy Ancillary position at Christie Clinic, PLLC?
Christie Clinic's department of Chemotherapy Ancillary is seeking a full-time Certified Pharmacy Technician (Sign-On Bonus Available) from Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm at the University clinic, with no night or weekend requirements.
Duties include assisting in the provision of chemotherapy services including the compounding of chemotherapy and other drugs, ordering and distributing pharmaceuticals, computer billing, and other office work.
A registered pharmacy technician license, CPhT certification, and IV Preparation and/or mixing skills are required.
JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Assist in the dispensing and mixing of chemotherapy and other compounded medications under the medical oncologist’s supervision.
- Check all prescribed compounds for completeness of information. Verify patient information and proper provider authorization.
- Calculate correct dosages, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.
- Deliver solutions and controlled drugs, as directed.
- Assist with inventory control of medications. Help order supplies and medications. Receive and stock medications.
- Clean mixing area, Biohazard Safety Cabinet (BSC), related equipment/utensils and work area daily.
- Package medication orders as directed in protocol.
- Maintain responsibility for ordering drugs used for internal use at Christie Clinic.
- Maintain professional working relationships with clinical departments and providers.
- Perform related work as required.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 75 pounds. Other demands include the ability to read and note appropriate measurements. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a clinical setting with frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Requirements may include working irregular hours.

The estimated pay range for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related criteria.
