What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Mechanic II position at Christie Clinic?
Christie Clinic's department of Maintenance is seeking a full-time Maintenance Mechanic II at the University clinic from Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:00pm, with the ablity to travel to various clinics via Christie Clinic vehicle.
Duties include the general mechanical and preventive maintenance including inspections, servicing, repair and overhaul of equipment and facilities of clinic.
A valid Illinois state driver's license is required.
JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Meet daily, with Maintenance Coordinator to discuss special needs, problems and assignments.
- Carpentry: Reads blueprints, lays out work, framing, drywall, suspended ceilings, installation of doors, frames, locksets, closers, etc. Fabrication of counter tops. Installation and repair of casework, carpet, ceramic tile and sheet goods.
- HVAC: Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment.
- Electrical: Trouble shoot electrical circuits. Replace relays, contactors, solenoids, etc. Install CCTV, motion sensors, monitors, etc. Include work on electric motors. Install and program telecommunications devices. Install and terminate computer cabling and cat-6 wiring.
- Plumbing: Perform maintenance on stools, sinks, flushometers, mixing valves, etc. Rough in plumbing, using copper, PVC or galvanized pipe.
- Painting/vinyl wall covering: Finish drywall including taping, priming and finish coat, and/or installation of VWC.
- Assist other staff in handling materials on major repair or installation projects.
- Maintain adequate supply of inventories of such items as filters, lamps and plumbing parts.
- Keep Coordinator informed of any unsafe items or conditions and make recommendations about new equipment.
- Other duties included in general maintenance: Grounds maintenance, grounds equipment maintenance, snow removal, repair of medical equipment; repair of desks, file cabinets, chairs, etc.; replacement of light bulbs; moving of furniture and equipment; roof repair; masonry repair.
- Perform related work as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Trade or vocational school diploma, or equivalent in work experience
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include prolonged walking or standing, repeated stooping, squatting, stretching, climbing ladders and frequently lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of equipment and tools and to repair or replace fine components is required..
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in an on-site work area and involves possible contact with communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and mechanical and electrical hazards. Workers are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on a rotating schedule.
