What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mammography Technologist - Radiology position at Christie Clinic?
Christie Clinic's department of Radiology is seeking a full-time Mammographer Technologist(Sign-On Bonus Available) at the University and Windsor clinics between the hours of Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 5:00pm.
As a Mammographer Technologist, you are responsible for performing and demonstrating proficiency at techniques, principles and procedures involving breast imaging. The Mammographer must be able to work independently to produce images for the Radiologist to interpret the exam.
A graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist program and current registration in Mammography through the ARRT (must be working towards registration within 2 years of training in Mammography) is required.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 50 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in an outpatient environment.
JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Greet patients with eye contact, introduce yourself, and verify correct patient by using proper patient identifiers.
- Verify correct ordering provider and exam.
- Explain exam and educate patients on procedure.
- Perform mammography exams including 3D, additional views such as coned-compression, magnification and from-below images.
- Assist the Radiologist in special exams such as core biopsy and cyst aspirations.
- Protocol upcoming schedules; evaluate the history, ordering provider and previous Mammograms. Document information in Epic.
- Verify that the exam on the work list is the correct exam and that the accession number matches the number on the order.
- Manipulate the equipment as necessary and choose obliquity for patient
- Recognize when additional imaging is necessary and consult with the Radiologist for direction in the next step.
- Perform related work as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate from an accredited Radiology Technologist program
- Demonstrated clinical experience performing Mammograms
- Current with the number of Mammography images to fulfill the Illinois Emergency Management Associate requirements
- Evidence of annual completion of health related courses and/or seminars with a certificate and/or CEU’s in accordance with ARRT
