What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scheduler - Sleep Lab - Part-Time - Benefit-Eligible position at Christie Clinic?
Christie Clinic's department of Sleep Lab is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic part-time(24 hours/week) Scheduler from Wednesday-Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm at the University clinic, with no night or weekend requirements.
Duties include scheduling and coordinating the testing of patients for the sleep laboratory and acting as a liaison between the sleep lab and providers, patients and other outside facilities. Scheduling, insurance, and medical office experience is highly preferred.
JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Greet and assist visitors and callers, providing good customer service to patients, families, staff and visitors.
- Accept incoming calls, mail, messages, etc. and route appropriately, consistently adhering to departmental standards and goals (e.g. appropriate time frames).
- Schedule sleep laboratory appointments in a timely and efficient manner.
- Prior to testing, ensure that patients are adequately informed about the test process (sleep laboratory location, test instructions, etc.)
- Work with other departments, providers, and facilities to obtain appropriate patient information in a timely manner.
- Inform administrators of potential shortfalls in resources or staffing.
- Gather and verify information about patient insurance coverage, obtain necessary pre-authorizations and direct patients accordingly.
- Act as a liaison between the referral source and sleep laboratory staff.
- Assist in rapid clarification of unclear orders and rapid resolution of insurance questions.
- Confirm patient appointments in a timely manner and remind patients of all necessary information for the appointment.
- Confirm that the patient has completed all necessary documentation.
- Manage patient files and documents to assure smooth workflow and ease of access to patient information.
- Effectively communicate about patient-specific situations to avoid delays and assure continuity of care.
- Assist in processing documentation after interpretation of tests.
- Conserve resources and participate in ongoing management of office supplies and other departmental supplies, including timely submission of requests for re-supply.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of documents, workflows and processes by submitting and/or implementing department-specific ideas.
- Perform related work as required.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include long periods of sitting, some bending or stretching and lifting up to 35 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operating of office equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in the reception area and involves frequent contact with patients. Requirements may include working irregular hours.

The estimated pay range for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related criteria.
