What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgical Technologist - Dermatology position at Christie Clinic?
Christie Clinic's Department of Dermatology is seeking a full-time Surgical Technician(Sign-On Bonus Available) from Monday-Thursday 7:00am-5:30pm at Christie Clinic on University, with no night or weekend requirements.
Duties include performance of skills through the delivery of patient care using a systematic patient assessment and delivery of services recommended under the direction supervision of a licensed medical physician. A CST and CPR/BLS certification are required and previous healthcare experience is preferred.
JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all the duties assigned):
- Sets up procedure room, according to prescribed standards.
- Assists Mohs surgeon throughout the procedure with instruments, and providing hands on assistance, according to prescribed standards.
- Dress and provide wound care instruction for the surgery site.
- Handles specimens for pathology according to prescribed standards.
- Assists Mohs surgeon during procedure according to prescribed standards. Assists and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.
- Takes appropriate photographs of Mohs stages. Label and organize photographs.
- Assists the Mohs surgeon by providing and controlling surgical instruments and equipment during Mohs stages.
- Assist in procedure room maintenance, including case preparation, room turnover, and instrument processing.
- Ensures that instruments and supplies are properly transferred without contamination or errors for cleaning and sterilization.
- Provides hands on assisting with Mohs procedures and wound closures/repairs.
- Assists with lab/pathology processing of Mohs specimens.
- Assists the dermatologist in day-to-day dermatology patient flow.
- Assist with inventory and storage of equipment and supplies.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to all ages.
- Performs medical assistant duties as required for non-Mohs patients, as part of the dermatology practice.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting up to 75 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, a normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office and surgical equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a clinical office/medical spa atmosphere with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids, and other waste common to a health care environment. Requirements may include working irregular hours.

The estimated pay range for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related criteria.
