Christie Clinic's department of Business Services is seeking a full-time Registrar from Monday-Friday 6:30am-3:30pm at the University clinic in Champaign, IL, with no night or weekend requirements.
Duties including greeting patients upon arrival, taking and entering demographic and insurance information to successfully register new patients with Christie Clinic both over the phone and in person. Collecting needed forms and co-payments at time of service. This position also serves as a liaison between patients, patient financial representatives and medical support staff.
JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner in person or on the phone.
- Registers patients by completing the registration standard work.
- Perform all search requirements to prevent Patient Registration Duplication.
- Name

- Social Security Number
- Verify patient’s identity via a photo ID.
- Provide appropriate forms and obtain needed signatures.
- Create patient on new account or add to an existing family account.
- Collect co-payments and/or prepayments at time of service.
- Post cash, check and bank card payments.
- Daily balance cash drawer and keep appropriate change.
- Receives Facesheets for and completes registration of Hospital and Pathology Patients who are not already registered.
- Completes one or all of the following reports:
- Name Changes
- Account Moves
- New Adults
- Portal Proxy
- Complete MyChristie portal setup for new Christie Clinic team members.
- Post associated payments for items such as:
- Form Completion
- Completes Pre-Registration of appointments on facilities Department Appointments Report (DAR) and Telehealth DAR.
- Provide support and coverage to Central Check In as needed and upon completion of registrar duties.
- Works and or/provides coverage for the limited mobility/information desk.
- Receives cross training and provides backup to any and all tasks within the department.
- Participates and leads daily department huddles.
- Keep clinical areas informed of patient arrivals. Maintain open communication with clinical areas.
- Screen visitors and respond to routine requests for information.
- Maintain work area and waiting room in neat and orderly manner.
- Perform other related work as assigned.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range for telephone contact and conversation, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in Central Registration Check in area. Involves frequent contact with patients and possible contact with communicable diseases. Requires working flexible, irregular, overtime or weekend hours as needed.

The estimated pay range for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related criteria.

Experience
