As we continue to expand, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated In-House Real Estate Attorney to join our team and provide strategic legal support for the brokerage.
Position Overview: The In-House Real Estate Attorney will provide comprehensive legal counsel to Christie's International Real Estate Southern California, focusing on real estate transactions, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in real estate law, particularly in residential and commercial transactions, leasing, acquisitions, and land use. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual who can navigate complex legal issues while providing clear, practical advice to our agents and leadership team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Real Estate Transactions: Assist in drafting, review, and negotiate purchase agreements, leases, sale contracts, and other real estate-related documents for both residential and commercial properties.
- Regulatory Compliance: Advise on compliance with local, state, and federal real estate laws, including zoning, land use, environmental requirements, and fair housing regulations.
- Dispute Resolution: Manage and resolve legal disputes related to real estate transactions, including negotiations, mediation, arbitration, and litigation when necessary.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with property transactions and the brokerage’s operations.
- Corporate Governance: Assist with corporate governance matters, including structuring real estate investments and reviewing business formation documents.
- Brokerage Support: Collaborate with agents, brokers, and staff to provide legal guidance on transactions, contracts, and client relationships.
- Legal Training: Educate staff on legal aspects of real estate transactions, regulatory compliance, and best practices for risk management.
- External Counsel Liaison: Coordinate with outside counsel on complex legal matters, including litigation and regulatory issues.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in the California State Bar.
- Minimum of 5 years of law experience, with a focus on residential and commercial real estate.
- In-depth knowledge of California real estate laws, zoning regulations, and industry standards.
- Experience drafting and negotiating real estate contracts, leases, and other legal documents.
- Strong understanding of land use, zoning, and environmental law.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to non-legal professionals.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in-house for a real estate firm or brokerage is preferred, but not required.
- A strategic mindset and the ability to provide business-oriented legal solutions.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
