Departmental Objective
To provide the CNU community and the general public exceptional quality food and beverage service on and off campus. Ranging from intimate small events to large scale galas, fine dining to picnics, we do it all. Support the management team in the Catering and Dining Departments and assist all Auxiliary Service departments as needed to carry out the university’s mission.
Purpose of the Position
The primary function of this position is to supervise all front of the house aspects for CNU catered events. This includes start to finish, pull, set-up, event time and break down. This position will ensure that meals are prepared in a timely fashion and food/beverage service is conducted in a professional manner. The assistant manager will assign and monitor job activities of front of the house personnel. This position will inspect and ensure all presentation of food and service at the front of the house are in appropriate quantities and in accordance with sanitation and quality guidelines. This position will ensure all standards are adhered to in accordance with CNU policies and VA health department guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position
- Demonstrated basic math skills
- Ability to communicate in writing and verbally to both supervisors and subordinates
- Word processing and spreadsheet skills
- Knowledge of ABC rules and regulations
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma
Experience:
- Experience in the food service industry
- Supervisory experience
Additional Consideration(s)
Experience Preferred:
- Experience working in a university or college setting
- Experience in the catering industry
- Experience as a banquet captain or assistant catering manager
- Experience waiting tables in a fine dining establishment
