Purpose of the Position
In conjunction with the DSU Dining Operations Manager, the incumbent has responsibility for cash and card sales in retail dining in the Student Union. Incumbent will assist in the responsibility for reviewing, monitoring, interpreting, analyzing, evaluation and comparing data to: improve and control food cost; lower labor cost; increase sales volume over projections, identify and respond to customer trends and design effective marketing for all operations. Incumbent will be solely responsible for monthly inventory and tracking of labor cost for all locations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position
- Knowledge of scheduling, human resource management, health codes, and OSHA requirements
- Knowledge of food cost analysis, retail sales and related issues, purchasing and inventory management
- Knowledge of menu development/recipes, costing products for retail sale and understanding of food science
- Knowledge of all cooking methods and kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping principles
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software
- Ability to communicate in writing or verbally to both supervisors and subordinates
- Ability to adjust to cyclic environment
- Ability to be accurate despite repetitious detail work
- Ability to work under pressure of time restraints and deadlines
- Cash handling skills
- Must be available for nights and weekends
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma
Experience:
- Management experience in the food service industry
- Experience working with the public or providing customer service
- Experience with financial transactions and/or POS systems
Additional Consideration(s)
Education:
- Business-related coursework or equivalent experience
- ServSafe certified or equivalent food handler program
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in quantity/high volume food production in retail foodservice operations
- Experience working in a higher education environment
- Experience with nationally recognized chain restaurants, such as Chick-fil-A, Pizza Hut, etc.
- Experience with implementing or adhering to safety procedures
- Knowledgeable in sanitation protocols and/or maintaining cleanliness standards
Salary Information
Starting at $53,230, Commensurate with Education and Experience
