The Department of Mathematics at Christopher Newport University invites
applications for a part-time Lecturer/Instructor in Mathematics. This part-time position is
a non-tenure track and non-benefited appointment with a nominal teaching load of 3-3.
The successful candidate will be an engaging instructor in the classroom with a passion
for mathematics. The responsibilities of this position are teaching freshman/sophomore
level classes and, depending on qualifications, major specific classes. A master’s
degree in mathematics (or related field with at least eighteen graduate credit hours in
mathematics) is required for appointment at the rank of instructor; an earned doctorate
in mathematics or related field is required for appointment at the rank of lecturer.

Departmental Information
The Department of Mathematics consists of sixteen full-time faculty with
expertise in various areas of mathematics. We offer both traditional Bachelor of Arts
and Bachelor of Science degree programs, as well as a Computational and Applied
Mathematics degree in which a student can combine mathematics with a specialization
in biology, economics, physics, or electrical engineering. Additionally, every student at
Christopher Newport University must complete at least six credits of mathematics
