JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Logistics Manager

DEPARTMENT: Gilroy Loading Dock

REPORTS TO: Vice President of Operations

FLSA: Exempt Salaried

Position Summary

Christopher Ranch is seeking a Logistics Manager with advanced technology focus to oversee the daily operations of a loading dock, utilizing cutting-edge logistics software and automation systems to optimize inventory management, streamline shipment processing, and ensure accurate and timely delivery of goods, while actively seeking opportunities to integrate new technologies to enhance efficiency and productivity within the warehouse environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Manage employees in the department to ensure accuracy in receiving and shipping orders, productivity, motivation, communication, training, and time management.

· Ensure that team members follow all shipping and receiving standards, regularly review and standardize procedures to improve workers' efficiency as well as create automation solutions to reduce manual errors and speed up operations.

· Maintain control, accuracy, and timely delivery of all paperwork and electronic data interchange related to shipping and receiving.

· Implement technological advances and devices like barcode scanners, RFID tags, and GPS trackers to facilitate shipping and receiving tasks.

· Ensure that team members are trained and fully understand their job duties.

· Keep the workplace safe and functional.

· Study shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.

· Stay up to date on the latest trends and innovations in shipping and receiving management, such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, drones, and robots.

· Teach team members how to better receive, pull, and ship products.

· Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, timely completion, and the proper condition of shipments.

· Determine space requirements and the positioning of shipments in trucks and lay out their placement.

· Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seal loaded truck doors.

· Inspect material handling equipment for defects and notify maintenance personnel or contact external service facilities for repairs.

· Compile and maintain records of unfilled orders and inform appropriate parties.

· Prepare bill of lading and use software like warehouse management systems (WMS), enterprise resource planning (ERP), transportation management systems (TMS), and global trade management (GTM) to plan, monitor, and evaluate shipping and receiving operations

· Issue written and oral instructions to team members.

· Maintain harmony among employees and collaborate with Human Resources to resolve grievances.

· Confer with other managers to ensure the coordination of functions such as production, inventory management, and quality assurance.

· Regularly review and standardize procedures to improve workers' efficiency

· Be accessible during loading dock business hours

Supervisory Responsibilities

A Supervisor’s main goal is to manage a team of employees by providing constant feedback and communicating the company’s goals. Some of their primary day-to-day responsibilities include:

· Managing the workflow of their employees, creating team schedules and delegating tasks

· Assessing the work performance of their employees and identifying areas that need improvement

· Ensuring that business goals, deadlines and performance standards are met

· Training and onboarding new hires to make sure they understand their roles

· Setting goals for workers and making sure they comply with the company’s plans and vision

· Reporting performance records and evaluations to HR and senior management

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

  • High school diploma or equivalent (BSc/BA in supply chain, or a related field preferred)

· Experience in the produce industry and specifically shipping – 5 years minimum.

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and training skills.
  • Extensive practical and technical knowledge of shipping operations.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required

· Be proficient in Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, on some instances this job may require work in areas where ear and / or eye protection is necessary.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
