Chroma Early Learning Academy is a nurturing and inclusive environment dedicated to providing high-quality care and education for children. As part of this mission, we are looking for a dedicated Childcare Cook to prepare nutritious and balanced meals for our little ones and also provide support to teachers and staff.
Duties
Meal Preparation: Plan and prepare daily meals and snacks that meet children's nutritional needs and dietary restrictions (allergies, sensitivities, etc.).
Menu Planning: Develop seasonal and age-appropriate menus in line with national nutritional guidelines and parental preferences.
Kitchen Management: Ensure the kitchen is kept clean, sanitized, and organized, adhering to food safety regulations and childcare center policies.
Inventory & Supplies: Manage food inventory, order supplies, and maintain a budget for kitchen expenses.
Collaboration: Work closely with the childcare staff to accommodate special dietary needs and ensure meal schedules are met.
Compliance: Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper food storage, hygiene standards, and meal portion control.
Support: Will occasionally work in a classroom and provide staff breaks and support staff with assistance.
Requirements
Experience: Previous experience in a similar role, especially within a childcare, school, or similar setting.
Skills:
- Knowledge of child nutrition and safe food handling.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively.
- Ability to handle dietary restrictions and allergies with care.
Certifications: Food handler certification required (or willing to obtain). CPR/First Aid certification (or willing to obtain). Childcare professional development courses (or willing to obtain). Valid Drivers License.
Qualities: Patience, creativity in meal planning, attention to detail, and a genuine love for working around children.
Education: High School Diploma/GED
Age: 18 years
