Operations Manufacturing - Jr, Production Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for technical/production support, process/product development and optimization of Aerospace and Industrial gas turbine systems for assigned areas and its applicability to NPI, Repair and OEM businesses. Leading moderate scope project teams producing new designs, repairs and processes; utilizing Lean tools and methodologies to positively impact the business metrics.
CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS:• Entry level member of a technical team supporting the development of technical solutions for product development/production support and the ability to support improvement of assigned process/product maturity• Ability to assist with technical support, delivery of projects while interfacing with other technical team members and begin working within a matrix organizational structure.• Assist in supporting delivery through process design, best practices, and technology projects.• Experience of problem-solving basic technical and production issues to resolution.• Typically, 0-2 years’ experience in Aerospace or Industrial gas turbine engine engineering (design, manufacture, or repair), achieving progressively increasing responsibility and results.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/TASKS:• Assists in the engineering concepts in the development of new and repaired turbine, compressor, and combustor components.• Familiar with CI tools, concepts and how to apply on product/process subsystems or manufacturing systems.• Supports optimization of production process, product design using a lean problem-solving methodology, with quantifiable impact to business metrics• Assist in developing KPIs to effectively manage process and product outcomes.• Familiar with project management skills to successfully complete assigned portions of projects; considering technical, budgetary and schedule requirements.• Willingness to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team environment to support develop component designs and repairs, which meet site, Chromalloy and customer requirements for cost, performance, and durability.• Engage with the other engineers at the site to work on projects and develop solutions impacting site operational and financial performance, utilizing CI tools; positively impacting the end customer.• Support making technical decisions on assigned portions of product/process design and provide definition to the team to ensure mutual success.• Owns focused technical aspects of assigned components and or processes through the relevant stages of the manufacturing process.• Familiar with efforts to Identify, develop and implement tooling/equipment improvements. Participate in troubleshooting process/production problems and implement actions/solutions, monitor sustainability of actions, and report out results.• Prepare accurate written technical reports, specifications, procedures, and manuals.• Prepare and deliver presentations of work to all levels of external and internal customers.• Work in a lab and field environments.• Occasional travel required.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/PROFICIENCIES: • Familiar with gas turbine design and manufacturing methodologies• Understanding of various measuring techniques including CMM, white light/laser scanning, gages.• Familiar with principal mechanical engineering and materials concepts.• Interpretation of engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications• Knowledge of generic airworthiness protocols and standards• Basic knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques, CI and 6 sigma methodology• Basic knowledge of quality systems and documentation management.• Awareness of program management tools and skill set.• Thoughtful and effective communications skills• Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in English.• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
CRITICAL ABILITIES:• Develops and implements technical solutions to a focused range of technical problems in a cross-functional team environment. Develops solutions that are innovative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives.• Works with regular supervision in all aspects of role; determining priorities within assigned projects, requesting necessary resources, collaborating with peers to develop the designs, processes and or solutions needed to meet yearly goals and objectives• Aware of matrix organizational structures and has a basic understanding how to maneuver through formal and informal channels to accomplish goals.• Leverages foundational CI tools across the role to better the operational and financial performance of the department and site.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be fluent in English, i.e. speaking, reading, writing.• BS Engineering in a general Mechanical Engineering, Materials discipline, or equivalent engineering area.• At least 1-3 years of experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.• Basic knowledge of common manufacturing processes and procedures.• Skills, ability to use and understand measuring instruments, ability to operate equipment related to the process, ability to accurately interpret blueprints and manufacturer's specifications. • Desired experience: Manufacturing industry, Process Control, Test/Measurement Equipment, CNC programming, Robot Programming, ISO Standards.• Time management skills and teamwork attitude. • Computer knowledge (Office: Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) ERP Experience• Valid US Visa.• Willingness to Travel.
