Chronicle Books is searching for a Sales/Marketing & Publicity Assistant to provide support for our NY-based Marketing & Publicity team and our Northeast Independent and School & Library Sales Manager in addition to providing other Sales and Marketing support as needed. Reporting to the Executive Director of Marketing & Publicity, this is an integral role that works across teams and provides insight into how these key departments bring our books to market.
Key Responsibilities
50% of this role will be sales-oriented, assisting our key account sales manager handling School & Library (S&L) sales, placing orders for key S&L accounts, managing key account meeting preparations, and gathering information from multiple departments. The Assistant will also request and mail samples, attend key account meetings, build Edelweiss collections for buyers, summarize sales reports, keep all Salesforce account information current, and manage order tracking.
The other 50% of this position will be in Marketing & Publicity, managing bestseller list tracking & communications, gathering all event information for company-wide emails, assisting the development of seasonal marketing plans, and coordinating information for author opps at regional trade shows. In addition, creating M&P PowerPoint slides, handling publicity & marketing mailings, conducting influencer research, acting as a point person for M&P SharePoint, and creating a seasonal ranking grid will be part of this role as well.
Hiring Salary Range: $22.84 - $26.27/hr. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the expected salary for this position and will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, an applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. This position is eligible for our profit share plan.

Applicants should be highly motivated with excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail. They will have a proven ability to take initiative, prioritize, and juggle varying responsibilities while also possessing excellent writing and communication skills. A strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, with exceptional Excel and PowerPoint skills, is a must. Canva experience is a plus. Other preferred competencies include Salesforce and Edelweiss. Experience working in a fast-paced office environment and/or book publishing experience is a plus.
