The company’s flagship technology, PhotonAssay™, steps around centuries-old chemistry-based assay methods to deliver true ‘atom-counting’ analysis for the measurement of gold and other high-value metals.

 

The Detector Physicist is responsible to support the commissioning of the PhotonAssay units including its equipment and people.

 

Responsibilities and Contribution: 

 

Commissioning PhotonAssay Instruments:

  • Support the installation, commissioning and ongoing performance of PhotonAssay hardware including both in-person and remotely
  •  Monitor the radiation detectors and associated electronics used in deployed Chrysos PhotonAssay systems
  •  Assist in improving product documentation, manuals, and processes · Assist in diagnosis and repair of radiation detectors and associated electronics
  • Create an in-house predictive analysis service for the physics hardware used in PhotonAssay
  • Improve MTTF on Physics-related equipment and undertake root-cause analysis of failures
  • Support calibration of HPGe Detectors in compliance with IEEE Standards 325 and ISO 20042
  • Contribute to a culture that values collaboration, technical excellence, and on-going staff learning and development
  • Support the development of a strong OH&S culture

Attributes and Experience you bring: 

 

Skills, Competencies and Experience:

Essential

  •  A tertiary qualification in physics, medical or engineering physics or equivalent industry experience
  • Familiarity with basic electronics testing and trouble-shooting, including use of tools such as oscilloscopes, signal generators and multi-meters
  • Familiarity with radiation sources, detectors, and practical aspects of radiation safety
  • Experience with scripting, plotting, or programming tools such as MATLAB, Python or R Software
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Desirable
  • Experience performing data or statistical analysis in a lab or commercial environment
  • Comfortable working with numbers, statistical analysis in a lab or commercial environment
  • A demonstrated interest in applying academic knowledge to solving practical, real-world problems
