Position Summary:
Provides spiritual care to patients/families on an on-call and as needed basis, acting as a liaison between patients, families and community clergy.
An understanding of theology and psychology of religion as they relate to the spiritual and religious needs of patients and families. Ability to integrate concepts of theology and comparative religions and behavioral sciences in the practice of pastoral care.
Position Summary:
- Bachelor's degree in Theology or related field required, i.e. Master's degree preferred.
- Two units of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Training) preferred. In lieu of two units, one unit of CPE in combination of related experience and education may be considered.
- Possess observational and analytical skills to respond to crisis situations, assess spiritual needs, record and make referrals accordingly.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills necessary for effective communication.
- Flexibility to be available to meet the needs of the rotation schedule of the department, which includes being on-call approximately 2 overnight shifts per week. Ability to respond in person to hospital campus within 30 minutes of being contacted for emergent circumstances.
- Open and flexible to work with religious, cultural, social, and economic diversity.
- Previous experience in pediatrics and/ or family systems is strongly recommended.
- Continuing education during the year is strongly preferred to maintain and enhance professional expertise.
