Job Title: External Communication Specialist
Work Schedule: Full Time - Hybrid (minimum two days in the office)
Milwaukee.
Location: Hybrid and Children's Corporate 8915 W Connell Ct, Milwaukee, WI 53226
What you will do:
This role will lead on story development and production, working closely with our social media strategist and as a part of our Communications team to tell the story of Children’s Wisconsin. Write stories, releases, copy, messages and other external communications for various system needs. Research health system stories and angles to communicate to external audiences, in collaboration with Brand and Digital Marketing teams. Consult with health system leaders, entities and Marketing team members to develop communication plans related to specific programs, issues and events. Develop and implement communication strategies to proactively tell the Children's Wisconsin story, enhance the system's reputation and build the brand. Provide communication consultation to leaders and staff. Lead communication planning and execution for patients and families. This team member is also part of the on-call rotation, helping monitor social media. On-call responsibility is assigned about once every six weeks for a one-week period.
What you will need:
Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, social media, organizational communications or related areas of study.
Requires seven years in public relations, social media, journalism, internal/employee communication, organizational communication or related role, with five years of strategic communication or counsel.
Exhibits guiding behaviors that reflect Children's values and support our mission and vision.
Excellent writing skills in a variety of styles.
Demonstrated abilities in negotiation, collaboration and leadership coaching.
Track record of project management for publications and other content development.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Health care communication experience preferred.
