Floater Assistant Teacher at CHS Hershey Center Overview:
The Floater Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher and Associate Teacher in implementing daily educational programs for young children. This role involves engaging with children to foster their social and emotional development and ensuring a safe, nurturing classroom environment.
The Floater Assistant Teacher is responsible for supporting the implementation of classroom lesson plans linked to child outcomes and program requirements. This individual is expected to engage with children to support development and learning, while supervising and providing a safe and nurturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Lead Teacher and Associate Teacher with the implementation of classroom lesson plans
- Engaging with children to support development and learning
- Supervising and providing a safe and nurturing environment for children
- Recognizing the needs of individual children and groups
- Providing social emotional and learning supports
- Assisting children with self-help and hygiene
- Completing required program documentation
- Communicating with families through approved channels
- Maintaining confidentiality as it pertains to program, staff, and families
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- CDA (Child Development Associate) Accreditation or qualifications equivalent
- Up to 1 year experience working with children from birth - 5 years
- Level A or B certification in the PA ECE Career Pathway preferred
- Demonstrated understanding of and ability to effectively work with low-income families
- Comfortability with technology including MS Office Suite
- Ability to physically interact with children and lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
