The Assistant Teacher plays a vital role in supporting the educational and developmental needs of children. Working under the guidance of the Lead Teacher and Associate Teacher, this individual is responsible for implementing daily classroom activities that foster social and emotional learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development and implementation of lesson plans aligned with child outcomes and program goals
- Participate in regular coaching cycles to enhance teaching practices
- Engage with children to promote their cognitive, social, and emotional growth
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment, supervising children at all times
- Recognize and respond to the unique needs of individual children and groups
- Offer appropriate support and guidance to help children develop essential life skills
- Assist children with self-help and hygiene tasks
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of program activities and events
- Communicate with families as directed by the Lead Teacher, using approved channels
- Ensure compliance with state licensing requirements and professional standards
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; CDA Accreditation preferred
- 1 year of experience working with children from birth to 5 years old
- Level A or B certification in the PA ECE Career Pathway preferred
- Demonstrated understanding of and ability to work effectively with low-income families
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn new technologies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to physically interact with children and lift/move items up to 40 pounds
- Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
