Job Description
Summary
Provides courier services for the effective, safe and timely movement of mail, parcels, equipment, records, and warehouse items for Chugach.
Reporting Relationships
- Reports to: Manager, Administrative Services
- Supervises: None
Representative Duties
- Determines efficient and timely routes for routine pickup and delivery assignments.
- Prepares, labels and transports hazardous materials assigned for courier transport.
- Provides time sensitive pickup and delivery service for legal filings, law office interchanges, Board of Director materials, credit card payment checks, other miscellaneous bank items, daily mail and special requests.
- Provides pickup and delivery of freight and mail for Chugach’s air carrier on a scheduled and emergency flight basis.
- Provides inter-building mail transportation and delivery for all Anchorage facilities.
- Provides pickup and delivery of parts, equipment and materials from suppliers.
- Provides pickup and delivery services for the offsite maintenance of records.
- Provides pickup and delivery of recycled paper to and from designated locations.
- Maintains inventory (including tracking, coordination and delivery) of envelopes, paper, Copy/Scanner/Fax supplies, breakroom and bullroom supplies, seasonal decorations and various logo gear.
- Assists with handling, tracking, storing and delivering office equipment and Information Services surplus equipment.
- Assists with sidewalk and entryway snow removal.
- Assists with the delivery, setup and removal of promotional displays and annual meeting fixtures and materials.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Relationships
Internal
- Manager, Administrative Services: Reports to, seeks direction from, provides assistance to; receives work assignments; exchanges information
- Administrative Services Staff: Provides assistance to and exchanges information.
- Other Chugach Personnel: Provides service to and exchanges information.
External
- General Public, Vendors, other Utilities and Agencies: Travels to designated locations to provide pickup and delivery service and exchanges information.
- Delivery Personnel: Provides assistance to and exchanges information.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Transportation training is required, or the ability to successfully complete within 3 months of employment.
Experience
Courier or messenger experience preferred. Experience transporting hazardous materials preferred. Experience using material handling and snow removal equipment such as forklift, snow blower and/or pallet jack.
Job Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Familiarity with Anchorage area/locality.
Ability to work efficiently independently, with minimal supervision.
Must have strong customer service skills, including good communication skills.
Ability to handle cash and other valuables in a safe and responsible manner.
Must be able to drive a manual shift vehicle.
Special Position Requirements
Must possess a valid Alaska driver’s license. Must be able to safely load, move or otherwise handle materials not to exceed 50 pounds. Must be able to drive a vehicle for long periods at a time. Must have or be able to obtain a DOT Medical Certificate. Occasional overtime may be required.
Working Conditions
Work is conducted both indoors and outdoors, in an office environment or in a vehicle.
