Job Overview
Our growing Technology team is looking for an ambitious Cybersecurity Engineer to help build and secure our overall cybersecurity posture. This position will report to the Deputy Director, Cybersecurity and will help in maturing our cybersecurity program. The Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security measures to protect the organization’s systems, networks, and data. This role involves identifying vulnerabilities, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The Cybersecurity Engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to develop security solutions that align with organizational goals and technological advancements.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Develop, implement, and manage security strategies, policies, and protocols to safeguard organizational assets.
- Perform risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
- Design and deploy secure network architectures, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Monitor security events and respond to incidents, investigating breaches, and implementing corrective measures.
- Provide accurate documentation of cybersecurity measures and controls.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies.
- Collaborate with IT and software development teams to integrate security best practices into system designs and application lifecycles.
- Support audits and regulatory compliance efforts by preparing documentation and ensuring adherence to standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, or GDPR.
- Evaluate and recommend security tools, software, and hardware to enhance the organization's cybersecurity posture.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution, ensuring robust business continuity measures.
Mandatory:
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Ten (10) years of experience in information technology, three of which had a primary focus in a cybersecurity or related role.
- Must currently hold or be able to obtain CISSP, CCSP, or GIAC certification within six (6) months of hire.
- Hands-on experience with security technologies, including firewalls, SIEMs, and endpoint protection.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware and system software.
- Must be able to speak, read, and comprehend English to perform contract requirements and comply with emergency procedures.
- Ability to pass any employment background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
- Valid state Driver’s License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government National Agency Check (NAC) clearance and/or security clearance if required.
- Travel up to 10% of the time.
