Job Overview
Personnel Specialist II - Military and Civilian Awards and Decorations is a temporary part time position. This role has the possibility of a full-time permanent position. In the meantime, you will be earning union seniority. The responsibilities include, but not limited to, examining and processing personnel actions using knowledge and experience in applying procedures and policies for military and civilian awards and decorations programs. Use of personnel data systems (PDS) which includes Military and Civilian Personnel is required. Serves as a personnel expert in a wide range of personnel duties by maintaining current knowledge of AF Instructions, DoD Manuals and the Personnel Service Delivery Guides (PSDG).

Job Requirements
Major Job Activities :
- Responsible to perform all assigned duties as safely and efficiently as possible to maintain a safe work environment.
- Provides accurate and timely customer assistance.
- Ensures information and appropriate fonts and documents are provided to customers on personnel action requests and provides referrals to other agencies.
- Ensures personnel records are compared with source documents, submits updates as needed in MilPDS and DCPDS.
- Ensures all decoration copies for officers, E7- E9 are forwarded to the promotion board (AFPC).
- Ensures personnel action request are prepared and maintained to include, but not limited to special orders for awards and decorations.
- Ensures documents required to support service awards and decorations are processed in a timely manner.
- Ensures actions are completed to solicit and submit special awards.
- Maintains data and provides reports on programs and operations.
- Performs other duties and assignments as required to include preparing and processing correspondence, reports, forms, and operating office equipment (i. e. fax photocopy, or scanner machine), assisting customers and answering telephones.
- Maintains files of correspondence, directive, instructions, and other publications.
- Ensures compliance with policies, directives, and procedures.
- Assist in general housekeeping of common areas and work area / center.
- Performs additional duties as assigned in accordance with contractual, functional and mission requirements.
- Assist Personnel Systems Branch Chief with all non-conformances and corrective actions related to Military and Civilian Awards and Decorations Section.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the Personnel Systems Branch Chief and assist with special projects as directed.
