Job Overview
Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Recycling Laborer performs physical tasks such as sorting through collected trash and debris for recyclable materials and separating items into established categories such as aluminum, ferrous metals, glass, high-grade white paper, and corrugated paper. This worker discards contaminants and other items that cannot be recycled. They are also responsible for dumping bins brought down to the dock. Keeping the dock and container area clean and clear of debris. Minor repairs to carts and other non-motorized devices and equipment. Daily interaction with customers, other contractors, and vendors. Escorting responsibilities as noted in the contract.
Pay Rate: $24.36/hourly

Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- The Recycling laborer will execute the necessary functions to support the facility.
- Uses non-motorized equipment to dispose of items in designated containers.
- Plan, organize work, and meet all deadlines. Able to do a variety of tasks in any single day.
- Coordinates with customers, vendors, and other personnel regarding daily work requirements to maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Perform escort duties as directed or required.
- Perform on-call duties as necessary.
- Daily interaction with customers of various levels.
- Stand, bend, kneel, walk up and down the ramp, sweep, wash, rinse, and perform minor repair functions on equipment as needed.
- Supports and assists customers within the scope of the contract.
- Adheres to the established Chugach safety, personnel policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Work in all types of environments.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- High school graduate or equivalent GED.
- At least three (1) years of relevant experience in material handling or a related discipline is required.
- Must have general working knowledge of basic tools for minor repairs.
- Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
- Mature judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to pass a pre-hire background and drug screen.
- U. S. Citizenship.
- Valid state driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds.
