The Organization: CRRC is a nonprofit intertribal fish and wildlife commission established to address environmental and natural resources issues of concern to its seven member Tribes, located in the Chugach Region of southcentral Alaska. These include Tatitlek Village IRA Council, Native Village of Eyak (Cordova), Port Graham Village Council, Nanwalek IRA
Council, Chenega IRA Council, Qutekcak Native Tribe (Seward), and Valdez Native Tribe.
Position Description: The Power Building Catalyst is responsible for identifying funding opportunities, managing a grant-seeking strategy, and managing an advanced grant application database to support CRRC's mission of protecting and stewarding natural resources and sustaining a subsistence lifestyle of the seven Tribes in the Chugach Region through funding and partnership development. This position is part of the Administration Department. The Power Building Catalyst will collaborate closely with the Executive Director and program directors to identify and pursue funding opportunities. Assignments will be performed with considerable independence and will require application of initiative and creativity.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Research & Identification:
- Identify potential grant and contract opportunities.
- Evaluate funding likelihood, benefits, and restrictions.
- Maintain a comprehensive and complete funder database.
Grant Evaluation:
- Assess grant opportunities in relation to CRRC’s and Tribal strategic plans.
- Assess grant requirements and assist in maintaining CRRC’s eligibility for specific funding opportunities.
Donor Relations:
- Maintain relationships with previous and potential donors, ensuring CRRC’s objectives align with funder priorities.
Grant Development:
- Lead the full cycle grant application processes, which includes but is not limited to narrative, budget, budget narrative, and supporting document development.
- Develop and maintain a schedule for completing grants or contract proposals, including resolution requirements from the Board and submission deadlines.
- Co-develop grant applications with CRRC staff, as requested.
- Monitor the status of proposals.
- Utilize and refine existing grant-seeking and writing processes.
- Obtain and maintain access to grant application portals on behalf of the organization and Member Tribes.
- Work closely with CRRC’s program directors and the seven Tribal communities to identify funding needs, support grant applications, and facilitate collaborative grant initiatives.
- Prepare quarterly reports on all grant administration activities.
- Keep detailed records of grant applications and maintain CRRC’s grant information hub.
- Maintain an online grant application database for the organization.
- Provide technical assistance to CRRC division directors and program managers, as well as member Tribes regarding grant writing for success.
Educational & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Literature, Business Management, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Work experience directly with tribal organizations and within tribal organizations, is highly preferred.
