Job Summary
Under general supervision, performs all repairs as assigned, makes major and minor mechanical repairs on gas and diesel powered equipment; may direct the efforts of other mechanics and mechanic helpers; committed to teamwork and collaboration to provide maximum services to pupils, staff, and community; and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Six years recent experience repairing motorized equipment as a journey mechanic.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical problems; operate equipment used in repairing or servicing motorized equipment; estimate time and materials needed to complete a job; understand and follow oral and written directions; lift up to one hundred (100) pounds; diagnose repair / rebuild hydraulic systems; and use welding equipment.
- Knowledge of principles of internal combustion engines and procedures, tools, equipment, and materials used in the repair and maintenance of motorized equipment.
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Must have a good driving record and have or be capable of and agree to obtain the following valid documents : California Commercial Driver License Class A or B with "Air Brake" and "Passenger" endorsements, California School Bus Driver Certificate with no limitations (except "Automatic Transmission Only" is acceptable), and Medical Examiner's Certificate.
