The Role of Manufacturing Supervisor
This position provides leadership, development, and coordination skills to plant operations teams.
- Develops, implements, and maintains standard operating procedures (SOPs) for changeovers, fill weight management, cross-training, and new employee development.
- Standardizes productivity, operations processes, sustainability, and conversion costs through labor standardization and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) monitoring/improvements.
Key Functions
- Provides daily leadership, focus, and direction to operations teams.
- Promotes a safety culture and safety awareness within their area of responsibility, supporting and enforcing all plant safety policies and procedures.
- Ensures tasks are performed according to safety, quality, and regulatory guidelines.
- Directs shift activities and processes to meet customer needs, collecting and analyzing operational data to identify cross-functional continuous improvement opportunities.
- Communicates with the Operations Manager and stakeholders regarding staffing levels, materials, machines, methods, and metrics.
- Ensures employees receive required training in safety, quality, productivity, and operations.
- Manages cross-training and staff development to maintain a deep and flexible workforce.
- Captures and approves accurate employee time records.
- Initiates and processes corrective actions.
- Fosters positive employee relations and engagement through communication and practices.
- Executes continuous improvement and lean opportunities, meeting Lean Daily Management objectives.
- Ensures sanitation and good housekeeping procedures are followed.
- Participates in the new hire process and provides recommendations for terminations.

- Excellent organizational/time management skills for prioritizing work assignments in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lead as a team builder, coach, and mentor.
- Strong computer skills, including SAP and MS Office Suite.
- Knowledge of production operations, including equipment, materials, and workflow.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- 4-6 years of supervisory experience.
- Previous experience in supply chain, distribution, or materials management in a fast-paced environment is preferred.
- Lean or continuous improvement experience is also preferred.
- Experience in the Consumer Products Goods (CPG) industry is an asset.
