Job Description

Church Health Dental is looking for an energetic and motivated Staff Dentist who thrives on high quality dentistry while developing trusting and respectful relationships with their patients. We are searching for someone who is mission-minded, humble, a team player, and wishes to provide top notch dentistry to those who need it most, while recognizing the challenges and intricacies that come with treating dental disease in our community. The overall purpose of the Staff Dentist position is to provide patient care in diagnosing, preventing, and treating problems concerning oral health. This position must also monitor clinical treatment and care provided by dental hygienists and dental assistants.

Responsibilities

  • Examine teeth, gums, and related tissues, using dental instruments, x-rays, and other diagnostic equipment to evaluate dental health, diagnose diseases or abnormalities, and plan appropriate treatments.
  • Remove decay, fill cavities, extract and/or repair fractured teeth.
  • Advise and instruct patients regarding preventive dental care, the causes and treatment of dental problems, and oral health care services.
  • Input data into computer regarding patient treatments, x-rays and/ or charts and plans for ongoing treatment.
  • Oversee and review the dental care of dental assistants and dental hygienists.
  • Network with other dental professionals through associations and community functions and help recruit volunteers and foster their relationships.
  • Assist with other miscellaneous tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Graduated from an accredited College and/or School of Dentistry in DDS or DMD is required.
  • Post Grad Residency/ AEGD a plus
  • State licensure required. State of TN CPR/BLS certified.
  • Two (2) years of clinical experience in digital dentistry, implant placement/restoration, and a commitment to evidenced-based practice is preferred.
  • A completion of a volunteer shift may also be required to assess clinical competency.

Special Skills & Knowledge

  • Outstanding written, organizational and communication skills.
  • Possess sound diagnostic ability and manual skills including, but not limited to good visual memory, excellent judgment regarding space, shape, and color, a high degree of manual dexterity, and scientific ability.
  • Familiarity in use a variety of equipment, including x-ray machines, drills, mouth mirrors, probes, etc.
  • 3-5 years ideal experience.
  • Experience with dental technology including CBCT, CEREC (or equivalent) complex medical and clinical cases; experience with functional and cosmetic full mouth rehabilitation.
  • Knowledgeable of Microsoft Applications i.e., Excel, Word, and Power Point are strongly preferred.
