Laundry Aide

Requirements:

• Experience in Laundry preferred; knowledge & ability to use washers & dryers.
• The Employee must have the ability to follow instructions;
• Must deal tactfully with co-workers, residents, family members & visitors;
• Must be experienced at cleaning with a keen eye for details;
• The Employee must ensure that all equipment is clean and working;
• Must remove trash and soiled linens from residents rooms; must be able
• to lift up to fifty pounds;
• The Employee must have a solid work ethic, with initiative for quality &
• customer service;
• Must be reliable & keep to schedule

DUTIES:

• 1.) Pick up, deliver, sort, weigh, wash, dry, iron, fold, stack, and hang residents and nursing homes laundry.
• 2.) Knowledge of household and industrial laundry equipment.
• 3.) Wash garments and linens in the washing machine.
• 4.) Transfer washed clothes from washer to dryer and to baskets for distribution.
• 5.) Hang finished garments on hangers, or fold and stack.
• 6.) Clean filters in dryer and remove lint from tumbler.
• 7.) Distribute clothes to residents' rooms.
• 8.) Wear gloves as necessary when handling dirty linens. Wash hands after contact with any soiled linen.
• 9.) Wash contaminated linens separately.
• 10.) Avoid overloading machine.
• 11.) Report malfunctions of equipment.
• 12.) Be willing to perform routine tasks on a continuous basis and keep up with flow of work.
• 13.) Handle, store, process, and transport all linens in a manner that will prevent the spread of infection.
• 14.) Weigh laundry and linen for compliance with machine standards.
• 15.) Clean laundry area and equipment.
• 16.) Able to distinguish between cotton, wool, and synthetics.
• 17.) Be familiar with proper heat to apply to particular fabrics to prevent damaging material.
• 18.) Ensure that residents' clothes are properly identified and labeled with indelible ink pen.
• 19.) Report losses and damages of residents' laundry.
• 20.) Keep laundry off floor.
