What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Music Minister position at Church of the Holy Spirit?
Employment Status: Part-Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Schedule: As needed (Saturday/Sunday)
Reports to: Director of Worship & Music
The Music Minister is responsible assisting the Director of Worship in developing and promoting the music ministry of the church.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist in implementing of a comprehensive church music for Masses.
- Plan/select the music for assigned Mass.
- Keep informed on current music methods, materials, promotional ideas, and techniques.
- Maintain a consistent program of self-improvement.
- Attend regular weekly rehearsals for choir[s] if applicable. Responsible for finding substitute musician when not personally available.
- Assist fellow accompanists when needed to cover for other Masses.
- Attend quarterly planning meetings with ministerial staff upon reasonably given notice.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High school Diploma or equivalent
Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
- Skilled Organist/Pianist and Vocalist.
- Church musical experience.
- Ability to read and to teach music.
- Appreciation of traditional music as well as newer forms of musical expression.
- Ability to utilize and integrate various forms of music in worship services.
- Ability to nurture and motivate groups of people through musical interpretation.
- Good listening and people skills.
