Churchill’s PEJC platform is a leading provider of private equity and junior debt capital to middle market companies, primarily those owned by U.S.-based private equity investment firms. With over $41 billion of committed capital on behalf of both TIAA (the parent company of Churchill) and third-party clients, Churchill’s PEJC platform is one of the largest investment programs dedicated to the U.S. middle market. The PEJC team is responsible for executing numerous investment strategies, including making direct equity, junior debt and structured equity investments (~50% of annual program), limited partnership commitments to middle market private equity funds (~40% of annual program), and secondaries investments (~10%) with a total annual investment program of more than $3 billion.


Opportunity Summary

We are seeking an entrepreneurial and experienced investment professional to join the Private Equity & Junior Capital team of Churchill as a Vice President, focused on secondaries. The individual will be a core team member in the build-out of the secondaries business at Churchill. Churchill invests across the spectrum of secondaries transactions, including single and multi-asset GP-leds, preferred equity, and LP interest acquisitions. Vice Presidents are expected to exhibit strong investment judgement, transaction management and leadership, support fundraising, and portfolio management.


Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee deal execution from origination through closing; including managing due diligence processes, leading internal investment discussions from origination through Investment Committee, supporting legal negotiations and investment funding/closing
  • Build and maintain relationships with sponsors and advisors in support of deal sourcing efforts
  • Engage with sponsors and portfolio company executives in due diligence meetings
  • Provide oversight and support of junior investment professionals for fundamental due diligence and analytical efforts over the course of the investment process
  • Support portfolio management and capital markets activities, as well as interface with middle- and back-office team members in support of portfolio monitoring and reporting activities
  • Represent Churchill in the marketplace to third party constituents at annual meetings, conferences, and other events
  • Support business development activities, including participation in fundraising activities


Qualifications & Experience

  • Excellent academic credentials, MBA preferred
  • Five to seven years of relevant investment/finance experience, prior secondaries or private equity experience preferred
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, well versed in corporate finance, accounting, and financial statement analysis
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines against rigorous timelines
  • Comfortable presenting to large and small groups for investment and fundraising meetings
  • Willingness to travel for due diligence, fundraising and participation at industry events


Potential Salary: $160,000.00. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
