Maintenance Aide (Fairgrounds - Full-Time, Seasonal)

Churchill County
Fallon, NV Full Time
POSTED ON 1/11/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 1/27/2025

Are you reliable and hard-working, willing to get your hands dirty? Do you enjoy working outside? Are you able to operate tractors, water trucks, and other equipment? Do you want to play a role in making sure events are successful at the Rafter 3C Complex (Fairgrounds, Civic Center, etc.)? If so, consider applying for a full-time, seasonal Maintenance Aide for the Churchill County Parks and Recreation Department.

Applications are invited for a full-time, seasonal opening. This position performs maintenance and support work at the Rafter 3C Complex, including the civic center, fairgrounds, and parks. This includes, but is not limited to, operating trucks and equipment, performing laborer duties to prepare facilities for events, operating equipment as assigned, cleaning bathrooms and grounds, collecting trash, mowing and edging lawns, maintaining and using irrigation systems, pruning trees, weed whacking, and other various labor duties as required. These positions will also require contact with the public.

Because of the nature of this position, employees will be required to work weekends, holidays, and/or at night as well. There may be last-minute work schedule changes, so adaptability is important. Employees in these positions may be moved from one location and department to be used in another department when help is needed. The positions are limited to 1,039 hours worked in a fiscal year (July 1 through June 30) - employees' hours will be restricted to keep within this limitation. Successful employees are often rehired the following year, based on performance and the county's need for employees.

Applications will also be placed under consideration for other Maintenance Aide positions that may open within the county within the next six months.

Some work is performed outdoors with exposure to the elements, including the cold of the winter, the heat of summer, and any other weather-related exposures. The person in this position will work through the winter and into the spring, and may potentially be rehired the following year if their performance and attitude warrants them being rehired and the county has a need to fill the position. These are seasonal positions with no additional benefits. Employees may also be asked to assist with work at the cemetery or other locations as needed. Weekend and/or evening work will be required.

Applications should be submitted online at www.churchillcountynv.gov/careers and will continue to be received until the position is filled. Paper applications are also available at the Churchill County Human Resources Office (located at the County Administration Building, 155 N. Taylor Street, Suite 177) - paper applications need to be submitted to the Human Resources Office. Apply as soon as possible - the sooner you apply, the sooner your application will be considered. This position is safety-sensitive and subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.

Selection for oral interview will be based upon qualifications presented in application materials.  An eligible list will be established based on application and interview results. The eligible list will be maintained for six months. Inclusion on the eligible list is not a guarantee of a job offer.
