SUMMARY:
The role of Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, and managing cloud solutions to enhance our organization's infrastructure to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance. This role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate cloud solutions into IT initiatives, including disaster recovery, security, and performance optimization. Expertise will be essential in supporting our cloud adoption efforts, driving the automation of systems provisioning, and ensuring our environments can scale to meet the demands of a rapidly growing organization. This position is at the forefront of cutting-edge cloud technologies, contributing to the strategic direction of our IT infrastructure, and playing a pivotal role in the company's continued growth and technological advancement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Planning, implementation, and growth of the AWS cloud infrastructure
- Build, release, and manage the configuration of all production systems
- Manage a continuous integration and deployment methodology for cloud infrastructure and services
- Work alongside architecture and engineering teams to design and implement scalable infrastructure and services
- Align cloud security to enterprise best practices
- Evaluate solutions that align to tactical and strategic company initiatives
- Recommend process and architecture improvements
- Resolve and manage incidents for infrastructure and services to align to departmental or business SLAs
- Participate in on-call rotation for incident management and escalation.
- Works appropriate level requests from ticket queue.
- Works with vendors to resolve hardware and software issues.
- Gather and maintain data for capacity planning and performance analysis of cloud infrastructure.
- Stay up to date on emerging technologies and products, including attaining certifications and participation in industry events, as appropriate.
- Cloud architecture design, development and implementation.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
REGULATORY:
Ability to obtain racing and/or gaming licenses as required in any jurisdiction where CDI operates. The Gaming industry is highly regulated and as such demands an extensive background check to obtain a license. Must be 21 years of age or older.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- 4-year degree in IT/IS or other closely related discipline; may consider experience and certifications for degree requirement.
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
- ITIL v4 or Six Sigma certified preferred
- 3 years of experience designing and building web environments on AWS, which includes working with services like EC2, ELB, RDS, and S3
- 3 years of experience in Linux/Unix and Windows server system administration
- 3 years of experience with hypervisors such as VMware, Citrix Xen or Openstack
- 3 years of experience using DevOps tools in a cloud environment, such as Ansible, Artifactory, Docker, GitHub, Jenkins or Kubernetes
- 3 years of experience with build and deploy practices
SKILLS and ATTRIBUTES:
- Ability to work a 24x7 on-call rotation on regular, forecasted weeks
- Ability to work certain night/early morning/weekend shifts on an as-needed basis for major infrastructure changes
- Ability to work several marquee events such as the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks
- Comfortable with fast-paced work environment
- Strong attention to detail and independent ability to follow up on items as needed
- Strong communication skills
