SUMMARY:
This position will report to the Manager of Network Operations Center and will be responsible for supporting lines of business that fall under NOC area of responsibility to monitor and rectify issues that arise due to proactive monitoring, alerting, & ticket resolution.
The NOC Analyst is responsible for monitoring, implementing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and reporting of the enterprise network infrastructure of Churchill Downs Incorporated and its related properties, specifically TwinSpires, United Tote, and the company’s gaming and racing properties. They will also support the company’s production Data Centers and support the 24x7 nature of the business. This position will be required to be customer facing and able to troubleshoot various issues with customers and vendors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Ensure the successful and continued operation of the company’s network and infrastructure
- Participate with change and incident conference call bridges
- Investigate Infrastructure issues and bring to resolution within stated SLA parameters
- Provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to operations team and customers upon request
- Provide technical input (both verbal and written) for Incident and Change Management
- Interact with customer base through a combination of ticket requests and telephone interactions
- Works appropriate level tickets in the team queue, as directed by management
- Works with vendors to resolve hardware and software issues
- Gather and maintain data for capacity planning and performance analysis of infrastructure
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair Infrastructure problems according to Service Level Agreements
- Monitor, maintain, and provide regular reporting on the infrastructure operation on a regular basis
- Plan and execute changes to the infrastructure within the confines of our established Change Control framework
- Stay up to date on emerging technologies and products, including attaining certifications and participation in industry events, as appropriate
- Foster new ideas and methodologies to improve automation and service delivery
- Serve regularly as a standing interface between the CDI IT NOC Team and CDI Infrastructure, Development, InfoSec, System Services, and other teams as directed
- Gather and compile documentation and drawings as required.
- Update and maintain infrastructure management application databases and CMDB tools.
- Proactively address business process issues regarding Infrastructure through architecture design, development and implementation as well as the support of business process re-engineering
- Ensure that all organization activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations.
- Develops, leads, and owns projects to improve performance, efficiency, experience, capacity, etc. of environments.
- Occasional reporting to and travel to various other sites as needed
- Ability to work certain night/weekend shifts on an as-needed basis.
- Ability to work at marquee events such as the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks.
- Ability to be licensed as an Employee by various racing and gaming jurisdictions in which we operate, as required.
- Unrestricted Authorization to work in the United States.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REGULATORY
- Ability to obtain racing and/or gaming licenses as required in any jurisdiction where CDI operates. The gaming industry is highly regulated and as such demands an extensive background check to obtain a license
- Must be at least 21 years of age
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- 4-year degree in IT/IS or other closely related discipline
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills
- Experience of using network analysis, management and performance monitoring tools to plan for growth, diagnose problems and determine source; and/or WiFi troubleshooting; and/or experience with networked IT systems and connectivity issues.
- Experience of problems and solutions related to the interoperability of SolarWinds, Data Dog, Splunk, Netbrain, route/switch network, and Palo Alto Firewalls.
- Minimum 2 years of experience managing and configuring Cisco hardware
- Three or more recent years of experience configuring, monitoring and managing Cisco WAN/LAN switching/ routing, Palo Alto Panorama & Palo Alto Firewalls.
- Experience with Packet capture technologies such as Wireshark and Netscout.
- CCNA or CCN preferred
- Strong scripting ability in diverse languages preferred
- ITIL, Six Sigma and/or Green Belt certification a plus
- Knowledge of Windows and Linux-based platforms desirable
